The story of "Resurrection Mary” is the Chicago version of the “Vanishing Hitchhiker” — about a young woman who mysterious vanishes from the passenger seat of the car after being picked up the side of the road. It’s a classic American highway legend, but what if you found out that THIS story has a basis in truth? Archer Avenue on Chicago’s Southwest side has been home to just such a roadside phantom, dubbed “Resurrection Mary” after the cemetery where she vanishes, for more than eighty years. Since the middle 1930s, people have been picking up this elusive ghost or have been running her over with their cars – only to see her vanish before their eyes. Is she a mere legend, linked to the famous? Or is there truth to the tale? You’ll find out on this eerie night as Troy reveals the identities of the real-life counterparts of “Resurrection Mary!” You’ll see the places where they lived and died, locations where Mary has been encountered over the years, and visit two locations that will be forever linked to the legend of Resurrection Mary.
